Reading
Three Oaks Middle uses research-based reading programs in the developmental, advanced, and intensive reading classrooms. These programs concentrate on essential literacy skills necessary for students to be academically prepared for the rigors of high school.
Language Arts
Language Arts classes at Three Oaks Middle School are designed to develop a firm foundation in the areas of writing, speaking, and listening. A major component of this course is to increase the student’s ability to communicate effectively through essay writing. Students will learn the importance of working with an outline, quoting secondary sources, summarizing and paraphrasing, avoiding plagiarism, and preparing accurate bibliographies.
Social Studies
At Three Oaks Middle School, students will study United States history, emphasizing our growth as a nation and the many cultures that have influenced our country. Both U.S. History and Civics will investigate many similar concepts, bridging the curriculum of all three grade levels. Throughout these courses, students will gain a better understanding of various topics including; The Revolutionary War, The Declaration of Independence, The Constitution and the birth of our nation.
Science
Science dominates our lives and presents society with tremendous opportunities and challenges. At Three Oaks Middle School, students will increase their knowledge of science by learning about various scientific concepts including: the atomic structure, chemical bonds, genetics, electricity and magnetism, food chemistry, and respiration.
Math
Students continually use mathematical skills to solve real life problems. The purpose of this course is to develop those essential skills through the study of mathematical concepts and processes. The math courses offered at Three Oaks Middle School include: regular, intensive, advanced, and algebra 1 honors.
